Used Auto Loan With Bad Credit

Most of us when looking to get a used auto loan simply go to the bank or used car lot to ask for an approval. The problem is if we have poor or bad credit, then we usually walk right back out with that "just got denied" look on our faces. Well folks, if you keep reading this article, I will explain just how you can get a used auto loan with bad credit sent directly to your computer in 60 seconds or less.

These days there are few of us with exemplary credit, so we usually get denied for the good loans and get offered the high interest high commission loans that car dealers and banks love to deal with. The lender makes bigger commissions when they convince people like you and me to sign up for these high interest loans. Everyone makes out on the deal except for us. We usually pay more for a used or new car when dealing with these types of loans and in the long run, we can still be paying for a car long after it has deteriorated to a point where selling it would not even pay off the loan. Finding a used auto loan with bad credit can be easier to find than you think, however.

But first, I have to warn you to please stay away from those on the spot financing gimmicks where used car lots will create a payment you can afford each month but don't tell you that you'll be paying double for the car once you're done making all the payments. All you need to do is fill out a simple form online and within 60 seconds you'll have so many offers to compare that you'll be happy to be searching for your new car or truck. Used or new, it doesn't matter; the auto loan that you choose may afford you a new or used car depending on your income. Sometimes with these offers, you'll be able to have your new ride parked in your garage or driveway the very same day.

There are many lenders online that will issue you a used auto loan with bad credit on the same day, so you will be able to walk into any dealership with a pre-approval in your pocket. Trust me; you will love the treatment you receive when the dealership realizes you've been pre-approved for a car loan.

Final Note: There are many places that offer auto loans to people with bad credit. However, not all of these places are legitimate. When looking for an auto loan after bankruptcy, you must choose a reputable service.

Refinance Used Auto Loans

Refinancing used auto loans works very much the same way as refinancing regular auto loans. No appraisal is necessary to avail oneself of refinancing services for used auto loans. The value will still be based on how much more money is needed to pay off the existing used car loan.

As with regular auto loans, those who did not get 0 percent to 2 percent APR used car loans are advised to avail themselves of auto refinancing. Using auto refinance calculators, used auto loan owners can have an idea of how much they can save from refinancing.

There are some tips on how to get refinancing applications for used auto loans. First, the refinance applications should be filed using the same name used in the used auto loan. This is one way of ensuring credibility. If the refinancing company did not find matching names, the application will more likely be rejected.

Second, while the used car need not be appraised, the value of money needed to pay off the used car loan should be still be at least $7,000. Refinance companies usually do not entertain any amount lesser than that as it could only mean a waste of time.

The used auto loan owner should also gather all the necessary information regarding the vehicle. This would include the accurate year and model number of the car. The vehicle identification number should also be prepared, as this would be needed by the refinancing company to authenticate the refinancing application.

Most importantly, used auto loan owners should bear in mind that the refinance loan should not be higher than the value of the car. Though a formal appraisal is not necessary, it may still help to know the current price of the car. No refinancing company lends an applicant more than the current value of his or her car, be it new or used.

Low Rate Home Equity Loan

A home equity loan is more than its low interest rate. There are a lot of factors that you need to consider when you take out a loan. Although a low interest rate always sounds great, it doesn't mean that you're going to actually end up with a low home equity loan. In fact, if you fail to consider other factors, you might actually end up with a larger loan than you originally planned. You inadvertently placed yourself at risk.

Often lenders would advertise that they offer the lowest interest rates. This is actually great. However, you should consider the entirety of the cost of your low rate home equity loan and not just the interest rates because in the long run, the interest rate may not have an effect on the amount of your payments.

Low Rate Home Equity Loan in Relation to Other Loan Cost

A home equity loan has its own shares of costs which may include the application and appraisal fees, title search fees, insurance fees, taxes, paperwork preparation charges and mortgage origination charges. When you take all these into consideration, you might realize that the cost of your loan may not exactly be what you can afford. So, do not be blinded by flashing low rate home equity loan ads. Always, consider other factors before you actually sign the bottom line.

You need to factor in these costs when you are choosing your lender. For instance, if you borrow $20,000 at 6% interest rate, you might think that this is great. However, if the loan has fees or charges equal to 10% of your principal loan, you actually got the short stick of the deal. Because of the large cost, you might end up with a smaller amount of equity. So, when choosing a lender, make sure that you choose the one that offers low rate home equity loan with minimal charges and fees.

How to Choose

How do you go about choosing your lender? First and foremost, you need to prepare a list of all the lenders you're actually considering. Of course, this is after you have received the quotes from various lenders. You should then carefully list down the advantages and disadvantages of choosing one lender over another. You would be able to really compare the terms, rates, conditions and charges of varying loans and lenders. Carefully analyze your list and weigh your options and then based your decisions from your conclusions based on your observations.

Before you actually apply for a loan, you need to know beforehand if you would actually qualify for a low rate home equity loan. There are many factors that lenders take into consideration when determining the amount of interest rate that they'd saddle you with. Do not assume that you'd automatically get a low rate when you apply for a home equity loan. There are two factors that lenders consider when determining the rate. These factors include your home equity value and your credit score. If your home equity value is rather small, you may not actually get a low interest rate; and if your credit score is quite low, you might be saddled with a high interest rate. If you could still do something about your credit score or your home equity value, it is a good idea to improve your score or the equity value before you actually apply for a loan.

Safety Features And Cheap Illinois Homeowners Insurance

Whether it is a life insurance policy, homeowners insurance policy, or auto insurance policy; the entire insurance industry values safety. This means that if you show the company at the time of getting a quote that you are an individual that tries to prevent anything harmful that may come about unexpectedly, they will typically give you a better price for the policy.

One way of lowering your coverage is to put smoke detectors and sprinklers in the inside of your home in case of fire. It is true that every house comes with smoke detectors and some of them come with sprinklers nowadays, but the more you add, the more your cost will be lowered by these features.

You can also prevent theft of your personal property (something that is covered under every homeowner's insurance policy) by placing alarm systems in your home. There are many companies that offer different ways to protect your home from thieves and purchasing one of them might not be a bad idea if what you want is cheap Illinois home insurance.

Yet another way perhaps a little bit more out of the ordinary to cope with anyone trying to enter and come out of your house is to put locks on the windows. Although this might lower your cost, you might want to reconsider because in case of a fire it will be harder for your family and yourself to escape the dwelling; but nevertheless, this also works in lowering your price.

If you do it online you will have to do this things yourself, but you will be able to do it much quicker and retrieve quotes from each website in a matter of minutes. After all, isn't a few moments spent doing research worth it to find a low cost Illinois homeowners insurance policy and save yourself $100's or even $1,000's over the course of a year?

Your Claims History And Cheap Illinois Homeowners Insurance

You may be familiar with what an Illinois homeowner insurance policy covers and the things your must do in order to get reimbursed. One of the things covered by many home insurance policies that people use repetitively is the possession coverage. This covers your possessions all over the world and the insurance company will just give you money for them. Many other insurance companies have a thing called the "accidental disappearance" coverage. What this does is simply give you money for an item that you may have lost during traveling or just out of the blue.

If your company offers you any of the things mentioned above it is better to not claim things that you can just pay out of your pocket. A reason for this is that the more you claim, the more the insurance company will be paying out of their pockets. Claims lead to higher prices in any insurance business out there and if you start setting up claims for every lost item of yours, you might be headed toward a bad road on your cheap Illinois home insurance quest.

Your Deductible And Cheap Illinois Homeowners Insurance

Deductibles are one of the main things that people use to try and get a little money off their monthly premiums. The important thing to note about this is that people should only try and do this if they have the resources to cope with the change. What this means is that if you don't have the money to pay up front in the event of an accident then do not change your deductible.

Insurance companies simply lower the premiums when one raises the deductible as a way of saying "thank you". This is because you are taking cost out of their pockets and turning it into your cost. After a claim is made you will have to pay the deductible and the insurance company will pay the rest of the price once that cost is paid. A common deductible in the home insurance business is that of $250 but people often raise it to $500 or even $1,000.

Your Property And Cheap Illinois Homeowners Insurance

If what you want is a cheap Illinois home insurance policy then you must start thinking ahead even before you buy a residence. You must always inspect the land where the house is at in order to give yourself an idea of how much it would be to insure the property. Make sure the land is secure and not prone to floods. Rain can come hard at anytime during the year and it is important to be protected against flooding if you want a good experience.

When buying a home also try and get a house with a hard frame. This will work on your favor not only because the house will be more secure and last longer, but because in case of an earthquake or any other natural disaster hitting the home the chances of it remaining standing will be greater. People with brick houses often pay less in Illinois homeowners insurance premiums due to the safety of their homes and the durability of the dwelling.

Term Life Insurance Rates

Considering purchasing convertible term life insurance? How exactly does a convertible term life insurance policy work? Is it possible to find a cheap convertible term life insurance policy? These are all important questions to ask and to understand the answers to before you decide to make the important decision of which type of life insurance coverage to buy.

At the time of deciding what type of life insurance to buy, a person must know every single type offered in the market in order to truly make the best choice for their specific coverage needs. It is true that perhaps many companies simply refer to their policies as term or permanent life insurance, but a person must know that there is much more to that and such is the case of convertible term life insurance. In this article you will be able to know what convertible term is and the many things associated with this type of life insurance.

What Exactly Is Convertible Term Life Insurance?

Life insurance is perhaps easily understood because it simply is a contract between a person and an insurance company. The contract simply states that the person must pay monthly premiums for a certain period of time in exchange for a death benefit paid to the beneficiary in case of the insured's death.

A term life insurance policy is simply a policy that will cover for a specific period of time, but with a convertible term life insurance policy you will have the ability to transform your policy from a temporary one to a permanent one.

What this means is that if you have a policy for 25 years and you have a convertible term life insurance policy, then you will be able to change the term policy into a whole, universal of variable life insurance policy (depending on the company).

Things To Know At The Time Of Purchasing Your Policy

Like any other product, there are a few things that a customer must know in order to make the convertible life insurance experience a successful one.

Health and Family History: At the time of applying for a policy, whether you are doing it online or in person at a local agency; make sure to have some general information about your medical history. Although companies have the right to access your files when you apply for a policy (with your permission that is), most of the times they will ask you questions about your health and family history. The more prepared you are to answer these questions, the easier the quoting process will be.

Amount and Duration of the Policy: You must also have an idea of how much life insurance you wish to buy at the particular time. The reason for this is that with term life insurance policies a person must choose an amount at the time of getting the policy. There are tools online or that the company has that will help you get the amount you will more than likely need. It is also important to understand that the particular amounts change from company to company. Also, make sure that you know the amount of time you want the policy to last. Some common ones include 15, 20, 25 and even 30 years.

The Beneficiary: Last but not least it is important to be completely certain of whom you want your beneficiary to be. The reason for this is that many people actually don't know at the time of signing the policy and just put the first person in mind. However, many insurance companies are actually very strict when it comes to beneficiaries and they wont let a person make a change unless they fill out the appropriate paperwork. Nevertheless, it is important for a customer to know the company and their stand when it comes to particular beneficiary changes.

Lower Premiums Compared To Other Types Of Policies

Compared to many of the other types of policies, the convertible term life insurance policies give the customer a better choice. The reason for this is that a person will have the main option of converting the term life insurance to a permanent one or of simply letting the policy expire in their own hands. Having a term life insurance first also helps a lot, simply because term life insurance has lower premiums than a permanent life insurance policy.

The difference for these cheaper premiums is simply that with a term life insurance policy, the death benefit is not guaranteed to the beneficiary (particularly because the insured can still be alive at the end of the policy). Because of this reason, a person that chooses the option of having a convertible life insurance policy will have the great option of paying low premiums at first.

Medical Examinations

Another good thing about convertible term life insurance policies is that they allow a person to convert regardless of the medical condition and health of the insured. If the person in the policy chose the option of having a convertible term life insurance policy and they have paid premiums at the right time, then they have by law the right to extend their coverage if they choose to.

It is also important to highlight that this change in coverage must be made without the insured being forced to take a medical examination. The freedom of continuing the coverage regardless of everything and not having the chance of being denied might be the reasons why this insurance option is so popular nowadays.

No Premium Increases For Medical Problems

The last thing worth talking about when it comes to convertible life insurance policies is that at the time of changing your policy you cannot be charged any additional premium for any medical problems that you may have. It is important to highlight that I'm not referring to the fact that your premiums will not go up in value, because when converting from term to permanent there is always a chance of that. What I'm referring to is that at the time of converting your term life insurance to a permanent one by law you are protected against a raise in premium based on a medical condition.

No One Policy Is Right For Everyone

It is important to note that this type of plan is not for everyone, because some people just rather have a permanent policy right away or some others just want to be covered until they get retired. However, this might be exactly what some people are looking for simply because it starts as perhaps the low cost choice.

Compare Quotes To Find The Best Value

Compare the prices of regular life insurance quotes against the prices of convertible term life insurance quotes to find the best value. If you want the freedom of having a term policy and being able to convert it in the near future to a permanent life insurance plan that covers you for life then go ahead and start shopping around for your convertible life insurance plan!

Know About Medical And Term Life Insurance

Insurance is a form of risk management used mainly to soften the blow of unexpected misfortune, like death or permanent disability, of either yourself or a loved one. With so many different types of insurances available from different corporate bodies, it is your choice which type will bring the best benefits to you and your family. All insurances require a premium to be paid in exchange for the final policy that will release the total sum insured, with very attractive bonuses added-on in the final days.

One of the most popular forms of insurance is medical life insurance, better known as health insurance. Medical life policies will often cover the cost of private medical treatments at facilities for unconventional medical procedures which may cost more. Generally, this form of insurance is considered a luxury by most, although it may result in quicker health care with better facilities. Having no medical life insurance may just mean specific, sometimes necessary medical procedures may not be available to you.

Medical life insurance is normally offered by employers to those working more than six months in the company. If so, it may be voluntary which means the plan is deductible from the employees' monthly salary and is usually up for offer after a certain period of employment, for example six months into the company. Medical life insurance information on premiums rates, coverage and add-on coverage can be obtained from the insurance companies or agents you are buying your policy from. No two medical insurance information, prices and coverage are exactly alike - while one medical life insurance may be cheaper, the coverage may be less than the other.

Coverage for this include annual health screenings, health and wellness resources, national network of medical facilitators, coverage for medical travel, quicker claims process and many other additional services.

You will also notice that medical life insurance may be regarded in a different light than other insurance forms. No medical life insurance prices are available online, for example, even though there are various plans offered from any one insurance company. This is most probably because your choice of plan may reflect your society status and may attract undue attention to you.

Another type of insurance offered is the term life insurance. Term life insurance provides protection for a stated time period - a temporary insurance that goes into effect for a limited time for a limited sum. It is probably the most uncomplicated form of life insurance and developed to provide temporary protection on a smaller, more affordable budget.

One of the qualities of term life insurance is that it can be purchased in large amounts for a relatively small initial premium. Suitable for short-range goals, term life insurance coverage can be used to pay off a loan, or providing extra life insurance protection during the child-raising years. Term life insurance has some distinct features which include affordability, particularly at the initial stages of the insurance, adjustable premiums (but never exceeding the maximum premium rate stated in your policy rate card), renewability upon policy expiry and the possible conversion to a permanent life insurance policy. However, this last feature may not be available on all term life insurances.

Term life insurance functions in a similar way to most other types of insurances. It satisfies claims against what is insured as long as premiums are paid up and the policy is not expired. The best example of this particular type of insurance is vehicle insurance, where claims against the insured are satisfied in an accident. It is the same for home insurances where the home is insured for the eventful possibility of a fire or natural disaster destroying it. While there may be no certainties that these incidences will happen, the term life insurance covers the policyholder for the possibility of it happening.

However, if no claims were filed, there is no expectation of a return of the premiums paid and the insurance may or may not be renewed. In cases of vehicle and home insurances, the term life insurance acts purely as a risk protection agent.

Whichever insurance you finally decide on will depend on your personal and professional reasons for taking up the policy, budget and most importantly, the coverage you will be receiving. At the end of the day, the insurance is supposed to ease your living a little bit and not act like an added financial burden.

Overcoming Big Insurer Excuses For Not Paying Claims

To combat fraud, many insurance companies are getting tougher on claims submitted by consumers.

But while some insurers delay payment to raise justifiable questions about claims, others drag their feet or deny payment for no apparent reason.

Here are the most common excuses insurance companies give when limiting or denying auto, home and health insurance claims - and the best ways to fight back...

AUTO INSURANCE

*"Your car isn't worth as much as you say it is." Insurance companies base their car-value assumptions on industry data that is similar to the information found in Kelly Blue Book. Keep in mind that Kelly Blue Book provides only average values of vehicles and that individual cars can be worth significantly more or less, depending on their condition and included extras.

Examples: Your car may have been garaged ... have low mileage ... or have expensive options, such as a sunroof or a V8 engine.

To support your claim for higher reimbursement: Check the classified ads in your local paper. If you find a half dozen cars that are similar to yours selling for more than the value listed in Kelly Blue Book, collect as much data as you can and send it to your insurer. Your insurer may relent.

*"Your car can be repaired for a lot less." Some insurers set out to reduce all claims payments by a set percentage, even when the amounts are legitimate. Of course, most insurers won't say this openly. Instead, the company might say that the $3,500 estimate you received is too high and that your car can be repaired for only $2,500.

Helpful: Don't be intimidated. If you visit three repair shops, and the lowest bid was $3,500, insist that your insurer pay the claim in full. And don't be pushed into using a cheap repair shop chosen by the insurer. I've never seen a policy that requires policyholders to go to a particular repair shop.

If your insurer still balks, say you'll turn the matter over to your attorney. This may make the insurer pay up. If the difference between you and your insurer is a few thousand dollars, it will cost the company more to hire a lawyer than to pay you off.

HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE

*"The problem cited in the claim is due to previous damage or normal wear and tear." This is a favorite ploy of insurers that want to avoid paying up.

Solution: Challenge the company to prove that it does not cover these claims. Ask where in the policy it says so. Also, ask for proof it was "wear and tear" or previous damage. Insurance policies are written by the insurance company. If the language they rely upon is vague or ambiguous, you can collect - courts hold that ambiguity is always against the insurance company.

Example: A couple from Texas had their roof and window air conditioner damaged by a hailstorm. The company's adjuster acknowledged that the air conditioner had been hurt by hail but insisted the hail hadn't damaged the already old roof.

The couple canvassed their neighbors and found that other families' insurers had paid for new roofs. The couple called the insurer with the information. The insurer then reversed itself, knowing that its policy language was the same as that of the other insurance companies that paid.

Under the typical homeowner's policy, you are entitled to the full cost of repairing or replacing a damaged roof, even if the roof is old.

*"You may fix or replace the damage for less than you claim." Some insurers will use this line as a trial balloon to see how low it can cut a claims payout before you complain. As long as you have a replacement policy and can show that it is impossible to replace an item for the amount the insurer is offering, stick to your guns.

*"We're delaying payment because the cause of the claim is suspicious." It's bad enough your house was damaged by fire, but now the insurer is holding up payment because it has questions about the fire's cause.

It's one thing if payment is temporarily delayed because of an investigation to rule out arson. But if arson is suspected, the fire department usually conducts its own inquiry.

If the fire department hasn't found it necessary to check the origin of the fire, ask the company directly if it is accusing you of arson.

If the answer is no, tell the insurer you expect the money to be forthcoming promptly or you will refer the matter to your attorney. If the answer is yes, call your lawyer immediately.

Important: Don't worry if you inadvertently caused the fire. People cause fires every year by falling asleep in bed while they're smoking, and many companies pay up anyway.

*"No receipts, no coverage". Ideally, it's best to have a written inventory of everything in your house.

But if you neglected to follow through on this chore, don't despair. Homeowner's policies don't require that you have receipts for damaged or stolen items, only that you show some proof of what you owned.

Helpful: Go through family photos, looking for pictures that show the items. You can also ask relatives and friends to check their photos for pictures that show people grouped around specific furniture and paintings.

Also, get sworn statements from friends and relatives and from merchants who sold you the items, attesting to the existence of those items.

HEALTH INSURANCE

*"We won't pay because this treatment isn't medically necessary." This is particularly troublesome with certain HMOs, which can be very tightfisted about what procedures they will cover.

Helpful: Put pressure on the insurer, starting with your doctor. Also, contact your employer's benefits department, and then call the insurer. If this doesn't work, say you'll contact your state insurance department or the media.

*"This treatment isn't covered because it's experimental." The problem is that policies can be ambiguous about which treatments are considered experimental and which are considered standard.

Helpful: Enlist the help of your physician in defending treatments.

Example: One insurer recently refused to pay for a migraine sufferer's stay at the Mayo Clinic because it said the treatment she was given was experimental.

Her doctor referred to his medical school textbooks, which described the treatment he ordered as "classic." He also found that in 49 other states, the treatment was considered routine.

The insurer reversed its decision.

*"We're not paying the entire bill because your doctor charges too much." Insurers balk at paying bills that exceed the "usual and customary" fees for the service in an area. The problem is determining what is usual and customary in your region because insurers are notoriously closemouthed about this.

Helpful: Call your doctor's office, and ask the billing manager how much other insurance companies have paid for the same procedure.

Also find out whether your doctor did multiple procedures but billed you as if it was just a single one. Clarifying the bill can often lead to a larger payment from the insurance company.

Student Loan

Loans, loans, loans that's what everyone is talking about, on internet, on radio, on, television in news we see advertisement for loans everyday, everywhere. "You want to buy a hat, a cat, a house, a car, you can get a loan". "Getting loan was never easier". "Live life the way you want". These are all the sentences that are clouding the media nowadays. And of course this has increased the ratio of people borrowing loans from banks and other lending organizations. A number of people are making their dreams come true due to these loans, which was otherwise impossible. You can get loans for multiple things like for starting a business, purchasing a house, or getting a car so on and so for. You can simply apply for the loan, buy your desired object and keep on paying small installments for years without even noticing it. Instead of waiting for long years of tough work to buy a house or establish a business of your own you can get some help from one of the diverse kinds of loans and benefit yourself from this golden opportunity.

Fantasies, dreams have no end. But in order to actualize them you need enough resources, now you have several opportunities to do what you always wanted. For different reasons or things you have varied kinds of loans. Be careful about the interest rates and other specifications of a loan. That will help you in generating the best results financially. You can get loan on really low rates if you play safe, I mean pay your installments on time and if you manage to pay it before time that would be more than good that will drag you in the line of good borrower, which will be very useful if ever in future you need to get the loan again. Unsecured loans are the most fascinating and tempting loan kind that has ever come across my knowledge. You are at minimum risk especially you are simply free from any possibility of repossession of your home or any other asset.

Whereas on the other hand the creditors are at high risk by giving you an unsecured loan as they provide you loan just on the assessment of your income and repayment capacity and therefore the monthly installments are a bit higher and the repayment duration is also shorter as compared to secured loans. But for everything you have to pay a price, there is nothing free and of course you are getting money without giving any of your owned possession's guarantees, which is a very big thing? This doesn't stop here; you have other benefits too of unsecured loans that can't be overlooked. First you can find a number of companies who are offering unsecured loans and thus get it on a very competitive rate. As for an unsecured loan you are not to provide a number of documents with the loan application the process of the approval are much faster than that of secured loans. It can be obtained in the time span of as short as 72 hours.

Besides this there are other loans you can think of like secured loans but of course you should be dead sure that you'll pay the loan before the deadline, as for secured loans you have to put any of your asset as a guarantee to bank, there are cheap home improvement loans, house buying loans, small and big business loans, personal loans, bad credit loans, pay day loans, car loans etc... there are just few things to keep in mind while applying or before applying a loan such as the interest rate, type of rate (fixed or variable), terms and conditions (repayment time in months or years), deposit (down payment), associated fees (broker, origination, prepayment etc.), insurance required by the lender. For best financial results see all the terms and conditions and be crystal clear about the things and then apply. This will give you ample tendency to work out your way out victoriously.

Loans are never (most of the times) an effectual, result-oriented solution for your long term monetary needs! Taking loans is becoming a fashion, I think more then 50% of advertisement on media is directly or indirectly about loans. But frankly speaking I believe loans are not more than debt traps. There are so many alluring names as payday loans; cash advance loans, check advance loans, post-dated check loans or deferred deposit check loans. But beware! Don't charmed by such attractive offers, think twice about borrowing a loan before you go ahead with this and honestly realize, do you really need a loan? Is it inevitable? Is this loan for frivolous, like a holiday? Or for something real serious an urgent need, Can you borrow money by a more traditional way, I mean from a relative, maybe a part-time job or you can think of selling an asset. Try to convince your creditors for some more time to pay your bills. Find out what they will charge you for that service - as a late charge, an additional finance charge or a higher interest rate. Don't put your foot into a trap yourself if you can avoid it.

Did you ever think why you drag your self in to a situation where you are left with no money and need loan desperately? Strive to mend this; if you are a lavish spender and you always spend more than you earn then it is a terrible practice. To overcome this condition, if you opt for a payday loan, it will be a "chancy solution". Payday loan companies often take the advantages of your need and lead you in debt ensnare. Try to make a more realistic and practical budget, and figure out your monthly and daily expenses. Avoid superfluous purchases even undersized every day items. Their costs add up and may become a huge amount at times that makes real big difference. Also, put aside some savings, even small amounts will do to avoid borrowing for emergencies, unexpected expenses or other such instances. I know it's simply impossible to write your requirements in black and white and consume money according to that but one should make a strict line that you are not spending more than this and this is only for your own advantage.

Check out if you can go for overdraft protection on your checking account? If you are a regular most or all of the funds in your account user so then if you make a mistake in your checking (or savings) account ledger or records, overdraft protection can assist in protecting you from further credit problems. Do find out the terms of overdraft protection. Want any help or working out a debt repayment plan with creditors or developing a budget, contact your local consumer credit counseling service. Almost in every state there are non-profit groups that offer credit guidance to consumers. These services are available at very little or no cost. Don't forget to check with your employer, credit union or housing authority for no- or low-cost credit counseling programs. If you decide that a payday loan is inevitable, borrow only as much as you can afford to pay with your next paycheck and still have enough to make it to the next payday.

While taking a loan it's never only the interest rate to take care of it's only a part, there are a whole lot of other inevitable expenses that makes it really, really expensive. The rate on a payday loan may be 500% per year or even more. Borrowing 200 dollar for 2 weeks at 500% will cost you 38.36 dollar. Just compare this to borrowing 200 dollar for 2 weeks at 36% (2.76 dollar) or 12% (.92 dollar). Suppose if this loan is refinanced four times, the cost difference increases dramatically! In actuality, it will cost you nearly 200 dollar to borrow 200 dollar for ten weeks. Gosh! It's a lot. Besides the insurance rate there are also arrangement fees and prepayment penalties to consider. And many 'no fee' credit lines have a pre-payment penalty. This is the way broker and lenders make their money. Do work out the total cost of your loan before committing? Compare the APR and the finance charge (which includes loan fees, interest and other types of credit costs) of credit offers to get the lowest cost.

Borrowing loans can be helpful when you are having temporary cash flow crisis or are facing a financial emergency and need money on a short-term basis. Don't rely on loan or don't make long-term planning depending on loans only. If you already have one loan outstanding, then you should avoid taking out another such loan. Also think about the aggravations if you can't be able to repay the loan at specific date to the payday lender!! I hope you are getting my point. Now this was what I call a bird's eye view about the loans advantages and disadvantages. But if still you are not satisfied and wants to dig in more to know minute details about different types of loans, I'll give you some info about it as after all you are the best judge for your own problems and needs. Ways to Reduce Your Mortgage Loan

1. Skip the introductory rate (Honeymoon)

Beware of lenders bearing gifts! Introductory or honeymoon rates have long been an important marketing tool for lenders. You are initially offered a cheap rate on your loan to get you in the door but once the honeymoon period is over, the lender will switch you to a higher variable rate of interest. An example of this is an Adjustable Rate Mortgage (ARM).

There are two problems with this scenario. First, the variable rate is often higher than some of the lower basic loans available so you could end up paying more. Second, you need to clearly understand that a honeymoon rate applies only for the first year or two of the loan and is a minor consideration compared to the actual variable rate that will determine your repayments over the next 20 or so years.

You may also be hit with fairly steep exit penalties if you want to refinance in the first two or three years to a cheaper loan. So make sure you fully understand what you are letting yourself in before setting off on a "honeymoon" with your lender.

2. Pay it off quickly

Time is money. There are all sorts of strategies for paying less interest on your loan, but most of them boil down to one thing: Pay your loan off as fast as you can. For example, if take out a loan of $300,000 at 6.5 per cent for 30 years, your repayment will be about be about $1,896. This equates to a total repayment of $682,632 over the term of your loan.

If you pay the loan out over 15 years rather than 30, your monthly payment will be $2,613 a month (ouch!). But the total amount you will repay over the term of the loan will be only $470,397 - saving you a whopping $212,235

Make repayments at a higher rate

A good way to get ahead of your mortgage commitments is to pay it off as if you have a higher rate of interest. Get a loan at the lowest interest rate you can and add 2 or 3 points to your repayment amount. So if you have a loan at about 6.5 percent and pay it off at 10 per cent, you won't even notice if rates go up. Best of all, you'll be paying off your loan quicker and saving yourself a packet.

 Make more frequent payments

The simple things in life are often the best. One of the simplest and best strategies for reducing the term and cost of your loan (and thus your exposure should interest rates rise) is to make your repayment on a fortnightly (bi-weekly) rather than monthly basis. How can this make a difference I hear you ask? It works like this:

Split your monthly payment in two and pay every fortnight. You'll hardly feel the difference in terms of your disposable income, but it could make thousands of dollars and years difference over the term of your loan. The reason for this is that there are 26 fortnights in a year, but only 12 months. Paying fortnightly (bi-weekly) means that you will be effectively making 13 monthly payments every year. And this can make a big difference.

Using our example from above, by paying monthly, you will end uprepaying $682,632 over the term of your loan. But, by paying fortnightly (bi-weekly), you will save $87,254 in interest and 5.8 years off the loan. Zero pain to you, major benefit to your pocket.

 Hit the principal early

Over the first few years of your mortgage, it may seem that you are only paying interest and the principal isn't reducing at all. Unfortunately, you're probably right, as this is one of the unfortunate effects of compound interest. So you need to try everything you can to get some of the principal repaid early and you'll notice the difference.

Every dollar you put into your mortgage above your repayment amount attacks the capital, which means down the track you'll be paying interest on a smaller amount. Extra lump sums or regular additional repayments will help you cut many years off the term of your loan.

 Forego those minor luxuries

This is the bit you don't want to read. Once you have a mortgage, your life is likely to be luxury-free (or at least pretty close to it). Think of all the weight you will lose by giving up your favourite indulgent snack. For the sake of your health you should quit smoking and drink less anyway. Take your lunch from home and save on bad fast food. Trust me, your body will thank you for it.

If you're still not convinced consider the following example. A typical day may include a pack of cigarettes ($10), a coffee and donut ($5), lunch ($12) and a couple of beers after work ($8). That's $35 a day or $175 a week or $750 a month or $9,100 a year.

Assuming a mortgage of $300,000 at 6.5 per cent over 30 years, by making $750 in extra repayments each month, you'd save more than $216,000 in interest and be mortgage free in just over 14.5 years.

No one is saying you should live a convict existence but just cutting down a little on your expenses will see you reap huge financial benefits.

3. Get a package

Speak to your lender about the financial packages they have on offer. Common inclusions are discounted home insurance, fee-free credit cards, a free consultation with a financial adviser or even a fee-free transaction account. While these things may seem small beer compared to what you are paying on your home loan, every little bit counts and so you can use the little savings on other financial services to turn them into big savings on your home loan.

There are also "professional" packages on offer for amounts over a certain limit, which can be as little as $150,000. Some lenders offer discounts to specific professional groups or members of professional organizations. Ask your lender if your occupation qualifies you for any discount. You might be pleasantly surprised. There are all sorts of discounts and reductions attached to these packages so make sure you ask your lender about them.

4. Consolidate your debts

One of the best ways of ensuring you continue to pay off your loan quickly is to protect yourself against interest rate rises. If your home loan rate starts to rise, you can be absolutely positive about one thing - your personal loan rate will rise and so will your credit card rate and any hire purchase rate you may happen to have.

This is not a good thing as the interest rates on your credit cards and personal loans are much higher than the interest rate on your home loan. Many lenders will allow you to consolidate - re-finance - all of your debt under the umbrella of your home loan. This means that instead of paying 15 to 20 per cent on your credit card or personal loan, you can transfer these debts to your home loan and pay it off at 7.32 per cent.

As always, any extra repayments or lump sums will benefit you in the long run.

5. Split your loan

Many borrowers worry about interest rates and whether they will go up but don't want to be tied down by a fixed loan. A good compromise is a split loan, or combination loan as they are often known, which allows you to take part of your loan as fixed and part as variable. Essentially this allows you to hedge your bets as to whether interest rates are going to rise and by how much.

If interest rates rise you will have the security of knowing part of your loan is safely fixed and won't move. However, if interest rates don't go up (or if they rise only slightly or slowly) then you can use the flexibility of the variable portion of your loan and pay that part off more quickly.

6. Make your mortgage your key financial product

Mortgage products known as all-in-one loans, revolving line-of-credit or 100 percent offset loans allow you to use your mortgage as your key financial product. This means you have one account into which you can pay all of your income and draw from for your living expenses by using a credit card, EFTPOS or a checkbook, as well as making your mortgage repayments..

These types of accounts can make a huge difference to the speed at which you pay off your loan. Because your whole pay goes into your mortgage account you are reducing the principal on which interest is charged. Sure, you might take a couple of steps back as you withdraw living expenses but careful use of this sort of product can get you thousands of dollars ahead of where you'd be with a "plain vanilla, pay once a month" home loan.

These loans work well when you are able to make additional payments towards the loan. If you are only able to make the equivalent of the minimum repayment on your loan (and not put in any extra) you may be better off with a cheaper standard variable or basic variable loan. However, it's not unusual for dedicated borrowers using these types of loans to cut the term of a 30 year-old loan to less than ten.

7. Use your equity

If you have already paid off some of your home, you are said to have equity. Equity is the difference between the current value of your property and the amount you owe the lender. For example, if you have a property worth $500,000 on which you owe $150,000, you are said to have home equity of $350,000, which you can re-borrow without having to go through the approval process by accessing it through your existing loan.

Many lenders will allow you to borrow using your equity as collateral. Most lenders will allow you to borrow up to about 80 per cent of the loan-to-value ratio (LVR) of your available equity. If you are careful, you can use this equity to your advantage and help to pay off your home loan sooner.

Using an equity loan to improve your property could be a good way to ensure that your home increases in value over time. But larger expenses such as cars and holidays that would have been paid by credit card are more affordable on the lower rate of your home loan.

8. Switch to a lender with a lower rate (But do your sums)

It may sound like a simple idea but switching out of your current loan and taking out a loan at a lower rate can mean the difference of years and thousands of dollars. If you have a loan that is tricked up with all the features, or even if you have a standard variable loan, you might find that you could get a no frills rate that is as much as a percentage point cheaper than your current loan.

However, before you jump the gun, check out what it will cost you to switch loans. For example, there may be exit fees payable on your old loan and establishment fees and stamp duty on your new loan. Work it all out and if it makes sense, go for it.

9. Stay informed - don't forget about your mortgage
Visit Mortgage Loan Hints.com

With any long-term commitment, there is always the temptation to let your mortgage roll along, make your repayments as they fall due and think as little about it as possible. As long as you keep up the repayments, there's not much else you need to do, right?

This attitude can be a big mistake. Keep yourself up to date with what's happening in the marketplace. You might find that there's an opportunity to put yourself well ahead of the game. Rates change, new products and changes in the market itself may allow you to seize an opportunity or negotiate a better deal.

Stay informed and stay ahead of the game.

10. Get a cheap rate and invest the difference

When interest rates are low, like now, it is usually safe to say that inflation is also low. Thus, bricks and mortar may not be the best place to invest. Try getting the cheapest home loan you can find and make the minimum repayment. This allows you to use the extra cash to invest in other, more profitable areas.

You may find that the return you get on shares or some other type of investment means that you have created a nice little nest egg which you can use to pay off a bigger chunk of your home loan than you might otherwise have been able to do.

But beware - high returns often mean high risks. Before undertaking any investment, invest in a consultation with a qualified financial adviser.

11. Run an offset account

Instead of earning interest, any money you have in your offset account works to offset the interest you are paying on your home loan. For example you may have a mortgage of $300,000 at 6.5 percent and an offset account with $50,000 in it earning 3 percent.

This means that $250,000 of your loan is accruing interest at 6.5 percent but the rest is accruing interest at just over 3.5 percent (6.5 percent on your loan less the 3 percent the $50,000 in your offset account is earning). Imagine how much you can save!

Of course, the best sort of offset account pays the same rate as your loan (100 per cent offset).

12. Pay all your mortgage fees and charges up front

Some lenders allow you to add to the amount you borrow instead of coming up with cash for your upfront costs. While this can seem a blessing try to avoid doing this. Consider the following example:

Borrower A borrows $300,000 over 30 years at 6.5 percent. Her upfront costs are $1,000 but she has enough cash to make sure she can cover these. Her total repayment over 30 years will be $682,632

Borrower B takes out the same loan but doesn't have enough cash to cover the upfront costs. So he borrows $301,000, at the same rate. Her total repayment over 30 years will be $684,907.

Two thousand odd-dollars might not sound like a huge amount but what could you buy with it if it stayed in your pocket?

13. Pay your first instalment before it's due

With most new loans, the first instalment may not become due for a month after settlement. If you can manage it (and your lender will let you), pay the first instalment on the settlement date. If you do this, you will be one step ahead of the lender for the term of your loan. Every little bit counts.

14. Shop around and make sure your lender knows it

One of the most powerful tools you can have in the search for the best home loan is information. Make sure you have rung half a dozen lenders and brokers (as well done some internet research) before you start talking to your preferred lender about getting a new loan or refinancing your existing loan.

Make sure you know what rates and features are offered by each of your lender's competitors on comparable products. Be ready to tell the lender what you are looking for and don't be afraid to ask for extras. If they want your business, and know you know what you are talking about, they may be prepared to work that little bit harder to get your business.

Don't be afraid to walk out if you aren't getting the best possible deal you can.

15. Make sure your loan is portable

If there is any chance that you will move house during the course of your loan (and let's face it, there is a strong chance), make sure that your lender will allow you to transfer your loan to a new property and that it won't charge you the earth for the privilege.

Be careful. If you sell up and buy a new house, you could find yourself down thousands in discharge costs on your old loan and establishment fees on your new one.

16. Avoid bridging finance

Someone once said bridging finance is so called because it allows you to "pylon" the debt. The joke's appalling, but so is bridging finance. Unless you get your timing right you could find yourself with two home loans at the same time - with the bridging finance element costing you an extra couple of percent premium on the standard variable rate.

Consider using a deposit bond or selling before you buy, as it will be much more cost effective for you than another loan.

17. Choose the loan that suits your needs

Choosing a loan is about knowing what you want. Draw up a table of potential home loans and rank them. Make a list of all the features that are important to you and rank them according to importance. Give each feature a score out of 5 - one for unimportant right through to 5 for indispensable.

Use this technique for ranking the loans on offer and pretty soon you'll see the one that's right for you. Remember, different loans have different purposes so you need to match a loan to your need. Taking out an interest only loan suitable for investors if you are planning to live in the house is just foolish.

Ditching the features you don't need can save you up to 1 per cent on the interest rate of your loan. Over 30 years that's a whole lot of money you've just saved yourself.

18. Don't be afraid of smaller lenders with cheap rates

Since the advent of the mortgage managers over the past five or six years there's been a lot of talk about smaller and "non-traditional lenders" and how they have forced interest rates down. With the property boom, plenty of opportunities sprang up for smart lenders with low fees willing to take on traditional lenders and many have done very well indeed.

Some borrowers worry about what might happen if their lender gets into financial trouble. Keep in mind that you've got their money - so don't worry too much. There are some smaller lenders whose names might not be readily familiar but whose rates might be enough reason to get in touch.

Be wary, however. Some of these smaller lenders can have huge hidden fees and charges. It is true that the interest rate might be much lower, but in many cases, they exit (or penalty) fees can be very high if you refinance or pay off your mortgage in the first couple of years. Of course, if you're planning on staying with that lender for some time, then these fees will not impact your pocket at all.

Donate Car to Charity and Obtain the Tax Benefits

If you are going to donate a car to charity you want to ensure that the organization you select actually takes vehicle donations, because a lot of small organizations cannot handle big donations. Deciding which organization is the best one for you means you will have to perform a bit of research. A site on the internet called Charity Navigator will help you find one that can take your vehicle. This site might provide a breakdown of the amount each organization spends on overhead so you can know that donating your vehicle is doing the most good.

Knowing how much is eaten by overhead is important because you do not want the middle man to eat up a large portion of your donation. You need to make sure you know what amount is going to the organization before you give it your car. If you are interested in investigating the organization to which you wish to donate, you can check out the IRS site at their website and look up publication 78. If you take the vehicle right to the donation area on your own, more funds will be funneled to the organization. Basically, the organization has to shell out cash to have a company tow the vehicle to their donation area. Try to find a receipt that indicates the amount your vehicle was bought at in the auction, especially if you think your vehicle could bring in excess of $500.00. Vehicle donation is being investigated by the IRS due to the fact that a lot of donors claimed more than $500.00 merely because they thought it should have been sold for more. If your vehicle is not even worth $500, you might be able to decide Fair Market Value or FMV via the Kelly Blue Book, but you will still want a receipt from the organization.

You might have to fill out a specific form to turn in along with your taxes in the event that your vehicle brought in is sold for over $500.00. This form is known as IRS Form 8283. You should be able to pick up this form at the IRS website too. At the time you hand over the vehicle's title to the organization, make sure to fill out the title change form in it's totality. If you do not do this and the vehicle is utilized in criminal activity, or someone is issued a citation, you may still be on the hook. If the organization demands you to provide a blank title when you go to turn over the vehicle, do not donate it to that charity.

Make sure you document each detail and maintain decent records when donating your vehicle to a charity. You will wish to take photos of the vehicle and keep a copy of the completed title change form, evidence that you donated the vehicle, and the receipt from the organization in a safe area. If the IRS decides to audit you, this information might be helpful and important to have. Moreover, donating your car is a great way to help out an organization, but you will also want to benefit from it the most you can.

All About a Structured Settlement

If you have been hurt in an accident, chances are you have hired an attorney to pursue your claim for compensation for your injuries, pain and suffering. This is a fairly common occurrence for those who have been put through the harrowing ordeal of having to endure an accident for which they were not at fault. For many years when a settlement was awarded to the victim, the amount of money that was awarded would go to the victim in the form of a lump sum. However, this is generally not the case anymore. Nowadays the more common manner of paying money to the injured party is in the form of a structured settlement.

What is a Structured Settlement?

In the simplest of terms, a structured settlement is a payment to the injured party made in regular installments over a period of time. This is different than getting a cash award in a lump sum up front. For example, if a person was in an accident and it was ruled that the other party was at fault, the other party may have to pay damages. If the amount was one million dollars, instead of a check being cut for one million dollars, it would be paid out in monthly installments over a period of a few years. For instance, a one million dollar settlement paid out monthly over ten years would mean a check paid to the inured party in an amount a little over eight thousand dollars per month. A structured settlement can vary as to how it is paid out. Some forms of structured settlement are paid out monthly and others annually.

Structured settlements first started to gain popularity in 1982 when Congress passed the Periodic Payment Settlement Act. This was introduced to allow settlements to be paid out over time in order to benefit both the party paying the claim as well as the victim. Those people who have had a personal injury due to an accident or who have had a worker's compensation claim can benefit greatly by having the money from the settlement arrive in regularly scheduled amounts across a long period of time. A structured settlement is a good idea in most cases.

Benefits of a Structured Settlement

There are many long term benefits to having a structured settlement. First, the person who was injured and awarded the settlement is likely suffering from a debilitating injury that will forever affect their life and livelihood. This could be anything from a condition that makes life uncomfortable to a serious crippling injury that forever changes the person. Regardless of the severity of the injury the victim has to become used to living their life in a different manner. Adding to this the stress of dealing with a large sum of money they are not used to can make the transition even more difficult.

A structured settlement, though, can help alleviate some of the stress. It is especially difficult to manage a large sum of money if you will no longer be able to earn a living for the remainder of your life. Whatever sum of money you were awarded must be invested and used wisely in order to last throughout your lifetime. This is not always an easy feat. Often people have to hire financial advisors and investment advisors to keep track of and administer the money so it does not run out. With a structured settlement, though, this process becomes much more manageable.

Without a structured settlement, many victims had to rely on a third party. In a lot of cases, the money ran out quickly. This is for several reasons. The victim may have had poor spending habits. Faced with a large sum of money, they were not thinking about the future but instead were thinking of fun ways to spend a lot of money they never had before. Not long after that, they find the money is gone and they still have to live their life.

Another reason is because professionals were hired to advise and administer the money appropriately. Without some knowledge of financial endeavors, the victim may have hired someone incompetent or unreliable. The money would not be invested wisely and gone before they knew it. Another common reason is the victim relies on assistance from family members thinking they would have his best interests at heart. Unfortunately, this is often not the case and greed gets the better of the family member. A structured settlement reduces the risk of these issues substantially.

When is a Structured Settlement Best?

A structured settlement is not the answer for everyone. Some victims will prefer and benefit from a lump sum payment. However, there are very specific cases where a structured settlement is ideal for the victim. This generally occurs when the victim is in need of long term or permanent care. When an accident occurs that leaves a person unable to work and earn money for themselves over a long period of time, they will need the funds to care for themselves and whatever medical care is necessary. Whether it is an injury that will take a very long time from which to recover or a permanent disability that will prevent the victim from working for the duration of his life, a structured settlement is ideal in these situations.

For anyone who has any type of guardianship, a structured settlement is also a perfect solution. For example, if someone dies as a result of an accident through no fault of his own, a settlement may be awarded. However, the settlement is going to the victim's family as opposed to the victim. The money may be used for funeral expenses and for the care of the surviving family, especially if the victim was the provider of the family's income. Spouses and children are generally the beneficiaries of a structured settlement. Minor children can especially take advantage of the benefits of a structured settlement. Their housing, food and other every day expenses will be ensured. Plus, very often their education and college expenses will also be taken care of so they can lead a productive life even without the assistance of their loved one.

How Structured Settlements Work

You have probably heard the term "Structured Settlement" on a television or print ad and wondered what it meant. After all, the term is not a part of our everyday lexicon.

A structured settlement is a contract under which an insurance company undertakes to make periodic payments to an injured party as part of a bodily injury claim settlement or to a surviving family member to whom a large settlement has been awarded. These are just two examples of where a structured settlement might be used. Structured settlements have become popular because they offer substantial benefits to all parties involved in the settlement agreement.

A brief review of the dictionary reveals the following definition: a structured settlement is simply a financial package that permits a settlement to be paid in regular payment installments for either a set period of time or over a lifetime. In short, a structured settlement is a package that is tailor made for the individual or payee by the payer or an interested third-party. Some structures include immediate payment to cover any special damages that may have occurred or will occur.

The system of structured settlements was first introduced in Canada in the early 1970's and spread into the United States very quickly. Within a few years, the idea had found its way to many countries including Australia and most member states of the European Union.

Benefits of a Structured Settlement

A structured settlement annuity provides a payment stream that is tax-free over a determined period of time. Most investment options such as stocks and bonds, real estate, savings accounts, and similar vehicles simply cannot match the flexibility and security of a Structured Settlement Annuity.

Another benefit of a structured settlement annuity is that it can be designed so that payments are made over an extended period of time, even throughout the life of the payee. In the event of the recipient's death, a guaranteed portion of the settlement may be paid to the person's estate or to a named beneficiary.

Structured Settlements have become quite common and offer the additional security of regulation by both Federal and State statutes. There are also provisions in IRS and Medicare/Medicaid guidelines which take them into account.

Alternatives to Structured Settlements

It's quite easy to see that a structured settlement can work to the advantage of all parties in a variety of circumstances. However, there are occasions when the beneficiary of a structured settlement would prefer not to have periodic payments, preferring instead a lump sum payment. Such might be the case where an individual would like an amount of money to purchase a home, perhaps to cover large medical bills or to pay off a mortgage.

This option has also proved especially popular with lottery winners. There are a number of insurance companies and others that provide this service for a fee. In such instances the insurance company or another interested third-party makes the lump sum payment with a charge for expenses and interest deducted. It is important to consider these fees and read the fine print carefully to be sure that you are not signing away the bulk of your payment.

How do the alternatives work?

The settlement contract is sold to a financial institution which then accepts the periodic payments from the payer and gives the beneficiary a lump sum. Commonly, the financial institution involved will be another major insurance company.

The insurance company charges a handling fee which will usually be calculated to take into account adjustments for interest charges and handling costs. Again, if you are considering taking this option you must bear in mind that the company buying the payments for a cash sum is in business to make money. The amount of the one-off payment will certainly be considerably less than the gross amount that would have been received over the original extended period.

Unless the amount of the lump sum is very substantial and the recipient can be sure of consistent investment income, it's almost certainly going to be better to stick with the original arrangements. An exception might be where the recipient is a younger person in good health with a substantial expectation of gainful employment for the long term.

Again, as with any contracts be sure to read and understand the terms of the agreement you are making. Make a list of questions and ask until you understand. It is also a good idea to cast a wide net when looking for an alternative to structured settlements as fees and services; and thus your bottom line can vary greatly.

Quick Cash for Your Structured Settlement

Just because you received a structured settlement for your lawsuit, it doesn't mean you have to wait for years to get the money. There are many settlement purchasing companies that will give you instant cash for your structured settlement. These companies can pay cash for the entire structured settlement or purchase your remaining periodic settlement payments. You can spend this lump-sum payment on anything-a house, college tuition, business investments or debts.

What Is a Structured Settlement?

A structured settlement, which typically results from a personal injury lawsuit, is an agreement where you consent to accept payments over time in exchange for the release of liability for your claim. A structured settlement can provide payments in almost any manner you choose. For example, the settlement may be paid in annual installments over a number of years or in periodic payouts every few years.

These payments are generally awarded through the purchase of one or more annuities from a life insurance company. Structured settlements can also be used with lottery winnings, contest prize money and other situations with substantial cash awards.

Structured Settlements Not Always the Best Fit

In theory, structured settlements are designed to provide long-term financial security to injury victims through tax-free payments. And for most people, the agreed-upon structured payment plan initially makes sense. However, a financial emergency, a business opportunity, an unforeseen medical expense, or a house purchase can put a strain on the injured party's finances.

And the structured nature of the settlement may become too restrictive to cover major financial purchases. Also, a structured settlement may not be the best option for investing. There are many other investment vehicles that can generate greater long-term return than the annuities used in structured settlements. Therefore, some people may be better off getting cash for their structured settlement and then building their own investment portfolio.

How Getting Cash for a Structured Settlement Works

If you receive an award from your injury case, an attorney or financial advisor will likely recommend setting up periodic installment payments instead of giving you a lump sum of cash up front for your structured settlement. Then, an independent third party will purchase an annuity that will provide you with tax-free periodic payments.

Companies that offer cash for structured settlements have a variety of programs that can allow you to access any portion of your annuity. For example, you may want to sell as little as four year's worth of payments or receive a lump-sum payment while still enjoying some portion of your monthly payment. Or you can sell your settlement for a large payment that is five or six years in the future. You can also customize an arrangement to get cash for a structured settlement based on your unique needs.

Here's an example of how obtaining cash for a structured settlement works: Let's say you were in an accident five years ago. The accident caused you to be hospitalized for several months and undergo nearly a year's worth of physical therapy. So you hired an attorney and sued the responsible individual-or, rather, the person's insurance company. Ultimately, your attorney advises you that you'll be awarded a substantial sum of money.

After several months or years of negotiation, you receive a sizable settlement. However, the cash you get upfront is only enough to cover the medical expenses. The rest of your compensation is scheduled to be paid out in regular installments through an annuity over the next 15 to 30 years. Rather than being restricted to monthly or annual payments, you contact a settlement purchaser to secure immediate cash for your structured settlement. You're then able to use the cash to enhance your current cash flow-rather than waiting on periodic future payments.

Legal Issues of Receiving Cash for a Structured Settlement

If you're contemplating getting cash for your structured settlement, it's important to contact a financial advisor. Most states have regulations that limit the sale of structured settlements, so you'll need court approval to receive cash for your structured settlement. Federal restrictions also may affect the sale of structured settlements to a third-party individual. And some insurance companies won't transfer annuities to third parties.

Also, before you attempt to obtain cash for a structured settlement, be sure to do your homework. Check out multiple companies to see which one can offer you the most cash for your structured settlement. You also want to examine their integrity, reputation and track record. This will help ensure you have the most positive experience obtaining cash for your structured settlement.

Receiving cash for a structured settlement is an ideal option if you need a lump sum of money to meet your immediate needs.
